CONGRESS
U.S. House of Representatives Republicans and Democrats have now both published the list of members who will serve on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce.

The U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education and the Workforce held its first hearing of the 118th Congress titled “American Education in Crisis.”

ADMINISTRATION
The U.S. Department of Education noticed the next meeting of the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI). The meeting will be held February 28-March 2, 2023.

Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona issued a statement on ED and the U.S. Department of Justice filing a legal brief with the Supreme Court of the United States on the Biden Administration’s student debt relief program.

President Joe Biden delivered the annual State of the Union address and released a fact sheet on his “Unity Agenda.”

SUPREME COURT
Five former U.S. Department of Education Secretaries, 128 House Republicans and 43 Republican Senators filed amicus briefs in the Federal student loan forgiveness case on which the Supreme Court of the United States will hear oral arguments at the end of February.
