CONGRESS
The Hill reported that House Majority Steve Scalise (R-LA) is seeking to pass all 12 appropriations bills by August, with the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education (LHHS) bill being projected for consideration on the House floor the week of July 29.

The House Committee on Agriculture held a markup of the 2024 farm bill and passed the legislation by a 33 to 21 vote.

The U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Innovation, Data, and Commerce held a markup of the American Privacy Rights Act (APRA) and H.R. 7891, the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) and passed both pieces of legislation by voice vote.

ADMINISTRATION

The Administration approved $7.7 billion in additional student loan debt relief for 160,400 borrowers. This debt relief targets three categories of borrowers: those receiving Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF); those enrolled in the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan and who are eligible for its shortened time-to-forgiveness benefit; and those receiving forgiveness on income-driven repayment (IDR) as a result of fixes made by the Administration.
