Below is RAMC’s weekly Washington Wrap Up from Wednesday. Find out more about Wrap Up and other RAMC resources here.

CONGRESS

This week, the Federal government remains in a shutdown period after Congress failed to pass a continuing resolution to fund operations for fiscal year 2026.

A group of Senate Democrats wrote to U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon opposing the Trump Administration’s efforts to halt the U.S. Department of Education’s (ED’s) enforcement of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and potentially transfer those responsibilities to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

ADMINISTRATION

ED held its final Reimagining and Improving Student Education (RISE) Committee negotiated rulemaking session on the student loan provisions in H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful bill. The Committee reached consensus.
