CONGRESS
Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee Chair Bill Cassidy (R-LA) launched investigations into 18 states and the District of Columbia over their policies allowing transgender students to play on women’s sports teams.
House Education and Workforce Committee Chair Tim Walberg (R-MI) launched an investigation into the Berkeley Unified School District, Fairfax County Public Schools, and the School District of Philadelphia regarding antisemitic incidents.
ADMINISTRATION
President Donald Trump signed an Executive Order titled “Launching the Genesis Mission.”
The U.S. Department of Education published a blog, clarifying how nursing programs will be treated under the definition of professional degree programs that resulted from H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon appointed five new members to the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI).
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission released new and updated educational materials regarding legal protections against national origin discrimination, which includes preferring foreign workers by advertising job openings as only available to H-1B visa holders.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced five new agency leaders.
The U.S. Department of Labor issued guidance encouraging State and local workforce systems to use Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) flexibilities and waiver authorities to modernize operations, promote innovation and align services with the Administration’s workforce priorities.
