RAMC Washington Wrap Up – October 30, 2026

CONGRESS

House Education and Workforce Committee Ranking Member Bobby Scott (D-VA) released a Minority staff report titled “Unlocking Student Success: Addressing Barriers to College Completion.”

ADMINISTRATION

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced plans to rescind seven joint guidance documents issued between 2015 and 2023 on Federal nondiscrimination laws.

ED granted the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences (NACCAS) a 12 month extension of their Department recognition as an accreditor despite recommendations from ED staff and the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI) to revoke Federal recognition. During this period, NACCAS is restricted from accrediting new institutions.

COURTS

The DOJ dropped its appeals of two judicial decisions invalidating a rule that would have narrowed employer eligibility under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.
