CONGRESS
On a 22-16 vote, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education and the Workforce passed H.Res.461 – Condemning the use of elementary and secondary school facilities to provide shelter for aliens who are not admitted to the United States.
ADMINISTRATION
President Joe Biden signed into law the H.R. 3746, the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023, which extended the nation’s debt limit, adopted discretionary spending caps, prohibited the U.S. Department of Education (ED) from using existing authorities to extend the pause on student loan payments, interest and collections and included other provisions.
The U.S. Department of Education released a blog post titled “Building Toward Equitable Schools for the 21st Century.”
