Lone Star College Recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting
HOUSTON (May 23, 2017) – For the 13th consecutive year, Lone Star College was awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).
LSC received the recognition from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
“I am so proud of the great team members we have who work tirelessly to make sure our financial reporting is thorough and contains the spirit of transparency and full disclosure,” said Jennifer Olenick, LSC chief financial officer & vice chancellor, Finance & Administration, Facilities & Construction. “This recognition is a great accomplishment.”
“One of Lone Star College’s core values is to ensure sound financial practices that are accountable to taxpayers and that fairly allocate budget and resources,” said Stephen C. Head, Ph.D., LSC chancellor. “This recognition validates our efforts to maintain rigorous financial procedures.”
The LSC CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
